Our Sustainability Commitments
As a company focused on creating a better world for all children, we feel it’s our obligation to make environmentally responsible choices. We are expanding our sustainability program to meet the challenges of today’s world.
Responsible Paper Practices
Responsibly sourcing, using, and disposing of the paper in our products is key to our sustainability efforts. Our Paper Sourcing and Usage Policy reflects our renewed goals and commitments for 2023–2024, building on the incredible progress made under our prior policy (2019–2022).

Corporate Social Responsibility
We are committed to giving back to communities around the world. HMH employees support hundreds of nonprofit organizations each year through giving and volunteering. HMH’s matching gift program, paid time off for volunteering, and annual Volunteer Week enable employees to amplify their impact with causes they are passionate about.
Governance
Oversight and Business Ethics
Strong governance anchors our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. HMH's ESG Council, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership Team ensure our actions are in line with our values. We adhere to a sound ethics and compliance program, respect and protect human rights, and value data privacy and cybersecurity.
ESG Council
HMH’s ESG Council, comprised of Executive Leadership Team members and other leaders from across the business, in collaboration with Veritas Capital, oversees the development of our ESG strategy.
