Project: Make a Lion Dance Costume
- Study the lion dance costumes on pages 4–5.
- Open a large paper bag. Cut two holes where your eyes will be.
- Use markers, construction paper, glue, and crepe paper to decorate the Chinese lion.
- Give the lion a face, complete with teeth, a red tongue, and colored eyes.
Research Connection: Read about Dances
- Research a special dance by searching online or reading nonfiction books. You can use this book to help you.
- Take notes about what you learn.
- Share with a group.

Hands-On Activity: Make a Mural
- Make a mural to show the setting for the class play in the story.
Family SupportCreate an art gallery. Make a few pieces of artwork, such as a painting or sculpture. Invite others to contribute a piece as well. Display the artwork around the room. Make labels for each piece to tell who made the artwork and what it was made with. |
