John "Jack" Lynch

Jack joined HMH in 2017 as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director, bringing with him an extensive background in the K-12 education and technology space. With deep expertise in education technology and a proven track record of innovation, Jack is a respected leader driving meaningful impact across the education industry.

He was the founding CEO of bigchalk.com, building a digital education network for 40,000 schools. He later served as president and CEO of the Pearson Technology Group and was on the executive board of Wolters Kluwer. Before joining HMH, he was CEO of Renaissance Learning, advancing K–12 learning analytics.

Jack is passionate about helping educators create growth for every student and ensuring all learners have access to high-quality learning solutions. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University and was honored with the 2016 EY Entrepreneur of the Year and 2023 EdTech CEO of the Year award for his leadership.
