Joe Abbott

Joe joined HMH in 2016 and currently leads HMH’s finance, legal, operations and human resources functions. Over the past decade, Joe has played a key role in many of the education industry’s most significant transactions, bringing deep expertise in strategy, finance and investor relations. Before HMH, he was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley in the Global Media and Communications Group, advising clients in the education content and information services sectors.

Earlier in his career, Joe served as an officer in the United States Navy, holding leadership roles aboard a ballistic missile submarine and later teaching Naval Science at Northwestern University. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy.
